California Termite Visits Camp Pendleton

As proud members of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee, representatives from California Termite recently participated in the annual Camp Pendleton Private Bus Tour.

The tour departed from the Chamber office at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday the 30th and made its way through Oceanside to the south entrance of Camp Pendleton. Along the route, the airfield’s commanding officer served as the group’s tour guide, sharing fascinating facts about the base—such as the myth that the land was once won in a card game, the presence of over 100 wild buffalo roaming the area, and the origin of the name “Camp Pendleton,” which reflects its originally intended temporary status. Attendees also learned that the base contains six lakes and is the largest military installation in the United States.

Upon arrival, participants were introduced to a range of military aircraft and equipment, including Huey and Cobra helicopters, a V-22 Osprey (an aircraft that takes off vertically like a helicopter, then transitions to forward flight like a plane), rocket and missile launchers, and a variety of advanced communication and surveillance devices.

The group then ascended the flight tower to take in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and over 200 military aircraft stationed at the base.

The tour concluded at one of Camp Pendleton’s recreation centers. It was an insightful and inspiring visit—offering a firsthand look at how our nation’s tax dollars support the men and women who protect and serve, along with the impressive technology that helps keep our country safe.
