Event for Homefront Fighters Organization

California Termite was a proud sponsor of War at the Shore, a Jiu-Jitsu tournament held at the Army & Navy Academy in Carlsbad, California. The event was organized in support of The Homefront Fighters organization.

Homefront Fighters is dedicated to enriching the lives of military spouses and families by providing experiences that foster support, connection, and personal growth. Their mission is to create a strong community where military spouses can find encouragement, empowerment, and a sense of belonging.

The tournament kicked off at 9 AM with multiple matches featuring pre-teen boys and girls—many of the girls more than holding their own. Some matches ended in triumph, others in tears, as proud and concerned parents lined the mats, cheering on the young competitors.

The venue was top-notch. Situated in the heart of Carlsbad Village, the Army & Navy Academy has been shaping the lives of seventh through twelfth graders since 1910. With a student body of over 300, their state-of-the-art facilities provided an excellent backdrop for the competition.

As the day progressed, so did the age divisions. Pre-teens gave way to teenagers, then young adults, and finally, the adult competitors took the mats. From morning until well past 4 PM, over 150 matches played out, showcasing skill, discipline, and perseverance. Spectators were on their best behavior—no one wanted to risk ending up in a guillotine or a rear-naked choke!

With over 300 attendees, the event was a resounding success, according to organizer Joe Iredell. If you’re thinking of stepping onto the mat next year, start training now—War at the Shore waits for no one!
